BOV -CLEX1 & convert ego

tablet computers as paperless note stands are nowadays quite common . "convertego" takes them a step further. in this composition the ipads are themselves becoming an interactive score. the participants not only use them to read but also to write it. in a dynamic process it is created anew with each performance.

a process of mutual dependencies develops between the soloist ernesto molinari on the clex (contrabass clarinet extended) and the ensemble, as well as between its individual members. at times you determine what others have to play with your volume or pitch, at times you are dependent on parameters of other participants and sometimes both possibilities occur simultaneously, often in a chain of dependencies. in extreme cases, you can even be at the beginning as well as at the end of the chain.

as a mechatronic instrument , the clex also allows to be played directly from outside, without any detour via the score and its interpretation.

in addition to the creation and design of the various instrumental parameters, the sounds of the instruments are expanded by live electronic means, opening up a further level of mutual influence.

the composition is based on a sequence of different interaction models that confront the participants with demanding tasks. not only do they have to interpret the instructions of the score musically, they also have to take compositional decisions themselves - for themselves as well as for others, in the awareness of being part of the whole.
